As the founder of Explore More Getaways, I’m passionate about inspiring women over 40 to embrace travel as a pathway to self-discovery and joy. My journey into the travel world didn’t happen overnight—it came after decades of putting dreams on hold and waiting for the “right time” or the “right person” to adventure with.
After my divorce, I had a revelation: I had been postponing my own happiness. I realized that all those bucket-list trips and experiences I’d been saving “for someday” were actually waiting for me to claim them—with or without company. That’s when I decided to live unapologetically and embrace solo adventures.
With three grown children and an empty nest, I’ve entered this exciting new chapter where I’m finally prioritizing my passions. As the co-creator of the Untethered & Wanderwise podcast and founder of the nationally syndicated family travel website Little Family Adventure, I’ve now expanded my mission to help other women discover the freedom that comes with solo travel after 40.

How Explore More Getaways Got Started
Explore More Getaways was born from a moment of clarity during my first work trip after my divorce. Standing at the edge of a breathtaking vista (Grandfather Mountain near Boone, NC) that was a bit of a challenge if I’m being honest, I realized how many women just like me were putting their travel dreams on indefinite hold.
For decades, I had channeled my passion for travel into family adventures, meticulously documenting them on Little Family Adventure. But as my children grew into adulthood and my marriage ended, I found myself at a crossroads. Who was I beyond being a mother and partner? What adventures called to me alone?
The answer came through booking that first solo trip—terrifying and exhilarating in equal measure. As I connected with other women travelers over 40 along the way, I heard the same story repeatedly: “I’ve always wanted to see this place, but never had anyone to go with.” That’s when I knew I needed to create a space specifically for women in midlife who were ready to reclaim their sense of adventure.
